My Ombre Powder Brows Experience

Saturday, March 9, 2019

Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a great week! I just finished my first week of training at my new job, and it has been good. :)

Today I want to share with you my experience getting ombre powder brows! Many of you have asked about my thoughts and what the process is like, so I'll share all of that today.

What are ombre powder brows?

Ombre powder brows is a semi-permanent brow tattoo procedure that mimics the look of soft, filled in powdered brows. It is different from microblading as it doesn't go as deep into the skin (less invasive), the healing is inconspicuous, and the brow expert isn't drawing hair-like strokes. This technique can give a look as natural or as bold as you would like. The procedure is also ideal for all skin types, especially oily skin.

Where did I get my ombre powder brows done?

I got my brows done with Angie of Hello Gorgeous Studios (you can check out her extensive Instagram portfolio here!). She is based in the North York/Toronto area. Angie is very friendly and is passionate about her work. She currently does ombre powder brows, microblading, and lash extensions. She gets booked up super fast so you need to secure your appointment as soon as you plan on getting something done! All her pricing is listed on her Instagram account. The cost that I paid for her service includes the ombre brows procedure and the initial touch-up 4-8 weeks after.

The process!

The first thing that Angie did was sit down with me and discuss what kind of brow shape, style, and look that I wanted. I wanted brows that looked very natural, not too thick and dark. I also preferred the brow shape to have a soft arch, similar to the shape I naturally had.

With my preferences, Angie begun to map my brows to ensure that they would be as symmetrical and identical as possible. Once that was done, she started drawing a brow model that she thought would suit me the best on one side of my face. After I requested some small changes to the model and finally approved the look and shape of it, she finished drawing the model on the other brow. Angie says this part takes the longest time, and I appreciated that. She was so detail oriented and genuinely wanted to make sure that I love the look of the intended brows and it looked as good as it can be before she tattooed it.

Both models are drawn in after mapping

Angie cleaned up my existing brow hairs by plucking before starting the tattoo procedure. The first application had to be done without any kind of numbing agent. The procedure itself was not painful, moreso just some discomfort. The best way for me to describe the tattooing is that it felt like fast tweezing or a razor-like sensation. She applied a numbing gel after for the next applications.

The end result!

Healing!

The healing process is usually 7-10 days where there may be some flaking, which I started to get around the fourth day. There's not much maintenance or after care, the only thing is to apply the skin ointment that Angie provides morning and night for the week after the brows are done. It's also so great that you don't have to hide away at home during the healing period (I went to work right after!).

Voila! Brows truly do make a difference! It's a strange sensation to see that you have brows on fleek all day and night haha. It truly has simplified my morning routine, so there's less time spent doing makeup and more time for everything else :P I'm super happy with how it turned out!

Hopefully this gave you some more insight on ombre powder brows! For someone who wants less time spent on makeup (or feel lazy doing my brows each day... like me haha) then it's something worth considering!

Until next time, Des

  4. I didn't realize ombre powder brows are a thing! It looks so natural that I was going to ask how to get it #browgoals! I've never been really into microblading or those kinds of treatments so it's good to know there are options!
