Travel To Peru

Thursday, August 17, 2017

I haven't been on vacation in over five years, so this trip to Peru was much needed! I travelled with C's family and had a blast (it was also my first trip with C)! Peru has amazing scenery, delicious local foods, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu! Here is my photo diary of the trip. :)

Lima, Peru (Capital City)

Ancient ruins built with the bookshelf technique to help release tremor energy between the blocks during earthquakes.

Cusco, Peru (Machu Picchu)

Terraces at Pisac Ruins.

Sacred Valley

One of Peru's sacred animals is the Andean Condor. It's the second largest flying bird in the planet with a wingspan over 3m!
You see llamas everywhere!

Lots of Spanish influences in the architecture

Hot Springs

Machu Picchu

We did a very hard hike up Huayna Picchu mountain to get this popular aerial view of the ancient city of Machu Picchu!
Puerto Maldonado, Peru (Amazon)

We needed to take a three hour boat ride up the Tambopata River to get to our Ecolodge in the jungle.
The cabin that we stayed in at the Ecolodge

A capybara!

Butterflies licking the sand in the clay to get poisons out of their system.

C's sister in reference to the gigantic base of the Capo Tree

Day hike through the jungle
Waking up at 4am to go see the macaw's clay lick.

The macaws lick the clay to get poisons from seeds they ate out of the system.

Her name is Rosa!

I'm tempted to make time every year to go on some sort of vacation. Where should I go next? :)

Until next time, Des
