Summer Essentials Series: Skincare & Beauty

Summer is a season where you can experiment and test new makeup, but also a season that's crucial for protecting your skin. My summer skincare/beauty essentials:

Coppertone Clearly Sheer Sunscreen Lotion * ($10) - If I'm going to be out and about in the hot blazing sun, I need to make sure that my body is protected from harmful UV rays. This Coppertone sunscreen is great because it has a lightweight formula, dries into the skin quickly, and doesn't have the strong "sunscreen-y" scent that most others have. With SPF-30 broad spectrum UV protection, it's a great one to throw on before a long day outside. It's designed and made to meet HER needs with sunscreens, another cool aspect of this new line!

Nature Garden Cucumber Soothing Mask - Your skin can get irritated after being out in the sun for a long time. My face gets all red and it simply feels uncomfortable. I use face masks like this soothing cucumber one to rejuvenate and soothe my irritated skin. The redness dies down fast and my face gets hydrated again.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Sun Dipped ($52) - We want to have a nice tanned glow from within when it comes to a summer makeup look, and this does the job! I had the privilege of meeting with Anastasia Soare herself and she was kind enough to sign my glow kit! I was able to get this one in "Sun-Dipped" exclusively before it hit the shelves permanently at Sephora and I love it. I'm just starting to get myself into highlighters but when these beautiful shimmers are added to the high points of the face, it gives dimension and creates a glow that looks so natural. It can also be used as bronzer and eyeshadow as well so the palette is definitely multi-purpose!

Swatches from top to bottom: Bronzed, Summer, Tourmaline, & Moonstone

MAC x Zac Posen Haute Bronzer & Powder Blush Duo - This was a kind gift to me from fellow Canadian beauty blogger Julie (check out her blog here!). What more can I ask for than a warm bronzer that's not too orange-y to add some tan to the face and a peachy gold blush to complement it? This duo has undertones that's perfect for me to use in the summer and it makes travelling easy since it has the two products in one.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation ($15) - I've already introduced and used it in a previous post here but I have to mention it especially as a summer essential. With my oily skin type this helps keep the greasy shine away. It goes on as a true matte but throughout the day it turns into a demi-matte finish so it still looks put-together, even with the usual oil production as the day progresses.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic ($9) - Summer is the time to bust out the beautiful and bright lip colours, and this is one of my faves for the season. It's a hot coral that's not over the top bug still flattering on me. The chubby pencil form is awesome.

What are some of your summer skincare/beauty essentials?

  1. Love the infallible foundation! Just out of curiosity - what shade do you wear? I have one that's too dark for me (I mix it) and I feel like I'd be the same or slightly deeper than you!

    1. I have shade 103 natural buff, it actually works pretty well for me year round. Right now I just have to add bronzer to make it my summer shade. :)

  2. Try the Maybelline Matte and Poreless. Or the MAC Pro-long wear. Other summer essentials for me are the Urban Decay allnighter, blotting papers, Rimmel Matte Primer and Make Up Forever Aqua eye pencil!

    1. Yes definitely the setting spray!! The eye pencil I must try, but I find all pencil liners will go smudgy on me cuz of my super oily eyelids D:
