OOTD: Our Go-To Sweater Look

Winter is basically here, but it hasn't gotten too cold yet. Regardless, I have already busted out all my knitwear... scarves, hats, gloves, and sweaters of course (#sweaterweather)!

I had a lot of fun doing this shoot with two of my dearest friends, Tiffany and Christine. We each dressed in our go-to sweater look, and you'll find that we all have very similar taste. ;) This shoot wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for our amazing photographer, Clarence Pong. You can find more of his photos in his Instagram portfolio @thebabylens. Follow him here!

Sweater - Forever 21
Leggings - Under Armour Studio
Blanket Scarf - Wilfred
Brown Riding Boots - Aldo
Lips - Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Mauvember

When it comes to the winter season, my outfit has to be warm (brrr Canadian winters), easy (because let’s be real, no one wants to wake up early to put an outfit together when it’s still pitch-dark outside), and comfortable (I wish pyjamas were socially acceptable to wear in public). I love pairing an oversized sweater with leggings and riding boots, but you could also swap out the bottom half of the outfit for a pair of slightly cropped jeans and ankle boots as well. This look isn’t complete without a huge blanket scarf, and although I don’t tend to wear accessories, a few rings and bracelets could add the finishing touches. I hope that you give this look a try and that it serves you well over the coming winter months!

Sparkly Cream Sweater - H&M
High Waisted Skinny Jeans - H&M
Tall Black Boots - Nine West
Russian Fur Hat - Thrifted!
Patterned Scarf - Zara

Lips - Kat-Von-D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita #2

Deep down, I'd rather be cold than ugly. I don't like having the same outfit as anyone else, so although I like to keep it simple and coordinated, I'm not afraid to take risks and do something different - like a Russian hat or a weird patterned scarf.

Fur Collar Pea Coat - Banana Republic

I had to include a shot of my coat! It's one of my favourite purchases this season! I got the coat during the Friends and Family Sale at Banana Republic. The faux fur trim adds a touch of class and it definitely dresses up the coat. The fur can be removed and the look becomes more casual. The coat itself has a fit-and-flare structure which is very flattering on my body figure. Its navy blue colour is beautiful, different from the usual blacks and greys.  I also have to mention the length of the coat since it's just right for me! I like having the coat end around mid-thigh.

Heather Grey Knit Sweater - Loft
Blanket Scarf - H&M
Maroon Jeggings - Abercrombie & Fitch
Black Riding Boots - Naturalizer
Lips - Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipstick in Aster

One of the most recent additions to my sweater collection is this one from Loft. I like the soft look of the reverse stockinette stitch (different from the usual chunky knit designs) . This neutral heather grey colour makes this sweater easy to dress with different pants, like with these maroon jeggings.
My go-to sweater look is on the casual side, but I can still add some style with my big blanket scarf (with hints of maroon and navy blue as well), a nice pair of boots, and simple accessories like my Pandora ring. A very easy outfit to throw on in the winter!

What's your favourite sweater look?

Until next time, Des
