Best of 2015 (Part 2: Beauty & Skincare)

Hello again! I hoped you enjoyed Part 1 of the list with the Bests of 2015. Today's post is Part 2, with my bests in beauty and skincare! I thought I would be able to fit fashion favourites into this post as well but I'll save that for Part 3 instead. :)

Beauty

Concealer - I use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade Sand to help cover my under-eye circles and any spots. It has great coverage and it's easy to blend. The shade matches my skin tone very well. This can be purchased at the drugstore, so it's great quality at a great price.

Brows - After I finished up the Rimmel brow pencil, I started using The Face Shop Style My Eyebrow Pencil and I'm hooked. Each stroke of this pencil on the brows is soft and subtle so it's very hard to go overboard with it. This brow pencil meets all my brow needs.

Eyeshadow - I tried the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours for the first time this year and they're gorgeous! Whether it's a lazy day with makeup or time to glam up for a special occasion, these eyeshadow sticks are so creamy, applies smoothly, and have such beautiful, shimmery colours. I have two of them, in Rose Gold (the colour is as the name states) and Amethyst (soft mauve with pearlescent sheen). They also last a long time without creasing or fading.

Eyeliner - The Kat-Von-D Tattoo Liner in Trooper is a cult favourite and it definitely deserves that status. The liquid liner dries to a matte finish and the brush tip never loses shape.

Blush - Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Captivating is my most loved blush. This dusty peach colour makes you look like you have a natural, glowy flush from the inside. I can wear this all year round.

Lips - The Sephora Cream Lip Stain impressed me. I have it in the shade Marvelous Mauve. Once it dries to its matte finish, the lip colour will not budge! I can wear this all day without my lips feeling dried out, and I'll never stop loving this mauve colour.

Nail Polish - Sally Hansen's "Lacey Lilac" is an absolute favourite of mine. This pastel lilac always has me staring at my own nails haha. One coat of this polish is enough for the colour to be pretty much opaque on the nails, but I still apply two coats just in case. It's another drugstore gem!

Skincare

Eye Makeup Remover - The L'Oreal Gentle Makeup Remover for Eyes & Lips has the dual phase and it works wonders, even on waterproof make-up! I can place a cotton pad soaked with the remover onto my lids, count to five, and wipe 90% of the makeup off in the first swipe!

Toner & Exfoliator - The First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads is well worth the money (although I generally stock up whenever I have a discount at Sephora haha). It's gentle for people with sensitive skin and to use daily. It does a great job at its three main functions: toning, brightening, and exfoliating. I've used it for several months now and my skin has improved in the texture and colour. You can read more in my First Aid Beauty focused post.

Moisturizer - Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation has also helped my skin improve. It has a luxurious feel to it but it's not super rich. I don't have to worry about my skin feeling clogged. It's great for all skin types and has anti-aging properties to it as well. It repairs skin using nutrients from vitamin C, licorice root, and pea extract. I've already repurchased this and would definitely recommend!

Face Mask - I loved using the Tony Moly Intense Care Gold 24K Snail Hydro Gel Mask (a special thank you to Tiffany who gifted it to me!) It was the first time using a sheet mask that used hydrogel instead of paper! It was a unique experience placing the jello-like sheet onto my face :P. Some may not like the sound of "snail", but the snail extract is excellent for adding intense moisture and improving elasticity in tired, dull skin. I'm going to get some more for myself on my next trip to Asia!

Shampoo - After a long week of dry shampoo, hairspray and other gunk that may be in my hair, this Garnier Pure Clean Fortifying Shampoo is very clarifying. My hair gets shiny, soft, and super clean! I use this once a week in rotation with my other usual shampoos.

Lotion - I find that some of the Body Shop scents are too artificially sweet for me, but this limited edition line with Vineyard Peach smelled so natural of fresh peaches (similar to the Market Peach scent from Bath & Body Works). They don't have it in stores anymore and this is my last bottle of the Peach lotion. It's very light in consistency but it still does a good job moisturizing my body. I would use this in the spring and summer months though. I need a more hardcore lotion for extra dry skin in the winter.

Deodorant - The Dove Go Fresh Antiperspirant in the cucumber and green tea scent is refreshing and does a job well done! The deodorant doesn't leave residues and keeps the odours away all day. What more do I need to say?

The next post will be the last in this Best of 2015 series! Stay tuned for my fashion faves!

Until next time, Des
