A Caryl Baker Celestial Holiday Look

I still can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner! Holiday parties to celebrate the season and the year are happening now, so this would be a wonderful makeup look for those festive occasions! I like to keep my makeup simple so this look is very easy to replicate.

The two features of this holiday look are the gold shimmer eyeshadow and the red lips. The gold shines beautifully in the light (the photos don't do it justice) and the lips pack a punch with the bold but festive colour.

These are the products I used:

However, the features of this look were created with products from the Caryl Baker Holiday 2015 Celestial Colour Collection!

There are five new Celestial Powder Eyeshadow shades, and the two that I used for the look are shown above: "Stellar" (metallic gold) over the lids and "Exposed" (matte brown) in the crease to add some depth. The gold eyeshadow could be more pigmented, however I packed enough on for the gold to be noticeable without looking cakey. The shadows are very blendable so both colours merged into one another seamlessly. Overall, the look on the lids is ethereal with the shimmer but it isn't too dramatic. You can make it more alluring by making the brown eyeshadow stand out more in the outer corners of the lid and the crease, effectively creating a stronger smoky eye fading from the gold to brown.

The red lips were done using their newly launched Celestial Matte Liquid Lipstick, and the shade I used is called "After Hours". The packaging is very different from other liquid lipsticks out in the market. You twist the end of the tube in order to push the liquid lipstick into the brush tip. I feel like an artist trying to "paint" the colour onto my lips with the brush. It's a cool idea as it can mimic the function of a lip brush, however I personally found it a bit more difficult to use. It was harder to draw a clean line since the fibres in the brush tip are flexible and can bend as you push it against your lips. I also was unsure whether I would twist up too much product at once. Other than that, the formulation is great! The liquid isn't thick, dries matte, and doesn't budge for the rest of the day! It transfers slightly but not enough that I need to reapply. My lips felt slightly dry by the end of the day but it wasn't a big deal. The main point is that when you're at a party, you won't need to worry about reapplying and fixing up dem lips. :)

Overall, I enjoyed using these goodies from the Caryl Baker holiday collection, and it's a look that I'll definitely be wearing to my next dressy function! You can check out the rest of their collection on the Caryl Baker Visage website here

What do you use to create your holiday look?

Until next time, Des
